ISRO successful in launching PSLV-C43 mission

The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) has successfully accomplished the PSLV-C43 mission on Thursday, 29th November.  The PSLV-C43 was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Consequently, this mission witnessed the successful launching of HysIS (Hyper-Spectral Imaging Satellite), India’s first earth observation satellite, 1 micro and 29 nano satellites.  After the lift off, PSLV-C43 injected India’s Hyper-Spectral Imaging Satellite (HysIS) into the 645 km sun-synchronous polar orbit.  Later, it injected the rest of the foreign satellites into their intended orbit.

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji receives the highest French Civilian Honour

French Ambassador to India,  Alexandre Ziegler, honoured  Azim Premji, Wipro Chairman, with the highest French civilian award, Chevalier del la Legion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour), on Thursday.  This event took place in Bengaluru.

Government Launched a new initiative ‘Bhasha Sangam’ 

The government has launched a new initiative named Bhasha Sangam so as to familiarize school students with the different Indian languages.  As part of the programme, this includes 22 Indian languages. Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat has launched this initiative on 22nd November and will continue till 21st December.  Moreover, Bhasha Sangam will be able to enhance the linguistic tolerance and respect and promote national integration of the students.

New UPSC chairman –  Arvind Saxena 

The President of India has now officially appointed Arvind Saxena as the Chairman of UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). He has been performing the duties of the post since 20th June 2018.  Mr Saxena had been a Member of UPSC from May 2015.  Prior to that, Mr Saxena was working as Director of the Aviation Research Centre (ARC).

To add on, UPSC is the institution responsible for conducting examination for the selection of bureaucrats, diplomats and police officers.

Georgia’a first female president – Ex-diplomat Zurabishvili 

Georgia has appointed its first female president, ex-diplomat Salome Zurabishvili, on Thursday (Nov 29).  Moreover, this is a major step forward for women and a move closer to Europe for the ex-Soviet republic.

International Gita Festival 2018 from Dec 7-23

The International Gita Festival 2018, also known as International Gita Mahotsav 2018, is to be held in Kurukshetra, Haryana, from Dec 7th to 23rd.  Mauritius is the partner country and Gujarat is the partner state.  About 200 famous painters from across country are to come for the event to draw paintings on the wall of Kurukshetra on the theme ‘Mahabharata’, under the ‘Paint the Wall’ competition.
