Staff Select Commission Exams (SSC), a government of India organization recruits staff to government offices based on the various exams they conduct.
The different exams are:
Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL): This exam also known as SSC CGL recruits staff to various posts in ministries, departments and organisations of the Government of India. The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university at the time of applying. The age limit is 18-32 years, though it may vary based on the post specified. For Data Entry Operator post in the office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG), applicants must have studied science and mathematics as main subjects
Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) 10+2 Exam: This exam is conducted by SSC to recruit people for Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants(PA/SA) Data Entry Operator (DEO), Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC) etc. The candidate must have passed 12 from a recognized board or university and the age limit is 18 -27 years.
Multitasking (Non-Technical) Staff Examination: SSC conducts this exam for general central service group ‘C’ non-gazetted, a non-ministerial post. The job includes carrying of files & other papers within the building, photocopying, sending of FAX, other non-clerical work in the sections/unit, assisting in routine office work like a diary, dispatch, etc. including on computer. The candidate must have passed class 10th or equivalent and the age limit is it is not more than 30 years, for some posts it may vary.
IMD Scientific Assistant Exam: This exam recruits’ candidate for the post of Scientific Assistant in Indian Meteorological department. The candidate must have a degree or diploma in the listed disciplines with a minimum duration of 3 years after + 2 and the age limit is not more than 30 years.
SSC Constables (GD) in CAPFs, NIA & SSF Exam: This exam recruits General Duty (GD) constables for BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSF, SSB, NIA, riflemen etc. The candidate must have passed Matriculation or 10th class from a recognized Board or University and the age limit is 18-23 years.
Sub Inspector In CPOs Exam: Also known as SSC CPO (S.I) recruits Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police, Sub-Inspector (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and ASI (Assistant Sub Inspector) in CISF (Central Industrial Security Force).The candidate must have graduation in any discipline from a recognized university and equivalent and the age limit is 20-25 years.
Junior Engineer Exam: This exam recruits an engineer at an entry position. A Junior Engineer works under the supervision of an Engineer and is neither expected to function as an Engineer nor is at liberty to make decisions associated with work techniques and systems. The qualification can be a degree or diploma in the required stream. At times work experience is also preferred. The age limit is 32, this too may vary based on the post.
Junior Translators (CSOLS) /Junior Hindi Translators Exam: Also known as SSC JHT. Translators are recruited through this exam for various departments. Exam will be conducted in both Hindi & English languages to test the candidates command over both the languages and their translation skills.
A Masters degree / Bachelors degree from a recognized University or equivalent in any subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at degree level
A Masters degree / Bachelors degree in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level,
Recognized Diploma or certificate Course in Translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa or Two years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State Government Offices including Government of India Undertakings.
Qualification vary depending on the post and the age limit is 30 years.
Section Officer (Audit/Commercial) Exam: Staff Selection Commission holds an examination for recruitment to the posts of Section Officer Audit in the various offices under Comptroller and Auditor General of India. The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University with at least 50% marks. The desirable qualification is Masters Degree in Commerce of recognised University/CA/ICWA
The examination for recruiting Section Officers Commercial in the office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India the qualification is a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University with at least 50% marks. The age limit is 18-25 years.
Food Corporation of India (FCI) Exam: This exam recruit’s candidate for various posts in Food Corporation of India. Candidates can be experienced or fresher with an undergraduate Degree from a recognized University and the age limit is 18- 40 years.
Lower Division Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDC): This exam is a Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for recruitment for vacancies in Lower Division Grade reserved for regularly appointed Group ‘C’ Staff. Candidates serving at an Indian Mission abroad will have to appear in this examination from any of the Examination Centres, mentioned at their own expense. The candidate must have passed 12th Standard examination from a recognized Board or equivalent. The age limit is not more than 45 years.
SSC Direct Recruitment (Selection Posts): This exam recruit candidate for various posts in different government ministries and departments. This is a C category post which differs according the education qualification of applicants. The age limit too varies according to the post.
