Kerala Administrative Services (KAS) examination is one of the prestigious examinations of India. Kerala Public Service Commision is conducting this exam. Furthermore, Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) is the Civil Service Examination of Kerala. However, KAS came in to force from January 2018.
After passing the KAS examination, the candidate becomes eligible for the post of second-grade Gazetted officer (Junior Time Scale) in various departments of the Kerala government. This includes public administration and finance department. For this reason, there are 4 streams of appointment in Kerala Administrative service. In the first place Junior Time Scale and secondly Senior Time Scale
Along the same line the Selection Grade Scale and finally Super Time Grade Scale
A Bachelors degree in any subject from a Govt recognized university
Most important of all is about the age limit. For Direct Recruitment of KAS Officer (Junior Time Scale) Stream 1, must not have completed 32 years of age on 1st January of the year in which application for appointment is invited. However Age relaxation for reservations will be applicable.
Lower Age Limit: 21 years
Age Relaxation: 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST
For Direct Stream II must not complete an age limit of 40 years on 1st January of the year in which appointment application is invited. Age relaxation for reservations will be applicable.
By transfer appointment from candidates who are holding first gazetted posts in Govt departments and equivalent posts in common categories shouldn’t have completed 50 age limit as on 1st January of the year in which application for appointment is invited.
The selection for KAS involves three stages
Firstly, Preliminary Exam (Objective Type)
Secondly, Main Exam (Description)
However, PSC is about to finalize the complete syllabus for the KAS examination. At the same time, below-mentioned topics are expected to be in the KAS Preliminary Examination which is objective multiple choice type questions.

KAS Main Exam
KAS Main Exam will be descriptive in nature. Furthermore, there will be multiple papers for KAS.
The subjects expected in Main Exam
Firstly. General Knowledge – Descriptive
Secondly, Current Affairs – Descriptive
Thirdly – in English
Fourthly, General Essay – in Malayalam
Finally . Report Writing, Precis, Translation etc can also expect
Most important of all is the final hurdle for KAS success is Interview or Personality Test. Accordingly, in the interview the candidate’s aptitude for government service, his overall personality will be assessed
However, the candidate can concentrate on the following points
Most important of all is the Candidates Power of Judgment and Independent Thinking Power. Besides Analytical Skill, Resourcefulness, Positive Thinking ,Trouble Shooting Skilletc also be noted
Of course, an interview will have 20% waiting compared to Main Exam mark.
