NASA has called application for astronauts for their 2024 moon mission. The application will be open from 2 to 31 March. NASA is planning to land the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024. To qualify as an astronaut, you must be a:
- United States citizen
- Graduate degree holder in a STEM field
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics and refers to any subjects that fall under these four disciplines.
If these two are met, then the candidate must take a two-hour online assessment and a long-duration spaceflight physical test. The new astronauts may also board the International Space Station, located 250 miles above Earth. There they would take part in NASA’s scientific experiments. Also candidates must take courses in military water survival, technical skills, robotics training and Russian language. People who do not successfully pass the training period may still be selected for different roles within Nasa.
