American Author Roger Kahn who passed away on 6 February 2020 was best known for his book “The Boys of Summer.” He has written 20 books and hundreds of articles.
Roger Kahn was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 31, 1927 to Olga and Gordon Jacques Kahn, a teacher and editor. Kahn began his newspaper career in 1948, when he took a job as copy boy for the New York Herald Tribune.
The Boys of Summer, published in 1972 looked at his relationship with his father through their shared love of the Dodgers, an object of nostalgia for the many fans who mourned the team’s move to Los Angeles after the 1957 season. The book was a national best seller. As a reporter for the old New York Herald Tribune, Mr. Kahn accompanied the Dodgers through the 1952 and 1953 baseball seasons.
