The robot dog Spot is back in action. It has been herding sheep on a rugged New Zealand mountainside. This is part of the promotional video released by the robotics software firm Rocos. Spot was made by Boston Dynamics. Rocos is working with Boston Dynamics to explore the missions for which robots like Spots can be used.
The new video demonstrates the potential of Spot in agricultural industry. It is seen checking crops in rough terrains. Farmers can make use of such bots to monitor and check crop growth or fruit ripening by operating remotely. With the correct sensors such robots assess the environment around them.
Earlier spot was seen at the Bishan-Ang Moh Kio Park in Singapore patrolling to ensure social- distancing was followed by the visitors in the park. Thus reducing the risk of exposure of patrol staff to the virus.
Spot the robot dog has been around for some time getting more capable and intelligent. The creator of Spot, Boston Dynamics uses sophisticated mechanical designs, cutting-edge electronics, and next-generation software for high-performance robots equipped with perception, navigation, and intelligence.
